Hello everyone and welcome to the new website to yours truly, DJ Lady Spindrift. January had been quite a busy month in terms of preparations for the year 2013 (projects, promotion, gigs, etc). But finally, I make this official to everyone, new faces and familiar ones.
My goals for 2013 include working on my own blends/edits/remixes, as well as moving towards the production phase (beat making), all while working on booking gigs for this year. Alongside of my production goals, I am looking forward to working with and supporting local artists, DJs, and making my move in continuing to contribute to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community. I strongly feel that this year, I need to make my move in expanding my DJing even further. I decided to make plans in booking gigs outside of the Boston area and venture towards my home state New Hampshire and other prominent cities such as New York, New Haven, Philadelphia, and so on. This means, I will be working on a ton of networking with new faces in the process. So stay tuned for that.
I want to give a gigantic thanks to Matt Yezuita/VirgoAscendant, who has been putting in a ton of hard work on my website, as well as my new DJ logos and business cards. Without him, this all would not be possible. I also want to give a big thanks to friends, family, and people who have enjoyed my sets and my performances up to now. You guys always give me the motivation to help continue doing one of the things I love in my life. It is time to aim higher and higher, especially for 2013.
Since the blizzard has altered my schedule of events for this month, I will be unable to attend this event. On February 23rd, this marks the kickoff of the Audio Chemists Institute, located in 101 Paris Street, Everett, MA. This kickoff party covers curriculum in music performance, sound recording, production, and DJing/Turntablism. Special performances include some of Boston’s finest artists: Saucy Lady and U-Key, Nabo Rawk and Paul Foley, DJ Reel Drama, Aztech, Cathy Cathodic. There will also be a fashion show furnished by Lola’s Urban Vintage and a dance party hosted by the Audio Chemists DJs.
Love 80s and 90s music? Come to Oh Snap! at Precinct Bar (formerly known as Toast) , located at 70 Union Square in Somerville, MA on Saturday, February 16. I will be DJing along with one of my partners in crime, DJ Golden Touch, as well as the young and talented DVK (DJ Vid Kid). As this is Valentines Day week, you might see us dropping some lovemaking hits on the side as well. Don’t miss it!
For the young ones who are looking to start their February and Valentines right, I will be DJing the Valentines Youth Dance. This is a 20 and under event sponsored by Boston Pride and Boston Latin Pride. The party will take place on Saturday, February 23rd, at the Harriet Tubman House (566 Columbus Avene, Boston, MA).
NOTE: Due to the circumstances of the weekend blizzard, the Youth Dance has been postponed to the 23rd of February. As you know, this will interfere with the Audio Chemists Institute Kickoff Party. In result, I will stick to the new plan of DJing the Youth Dance at the postponed date.
The special guest performances for this event includes drag star Mystique Summers, who is a former competitor in RuPaul’s Drag Race, as well as 14 year old drag queen Miss Crystal Foxx. Yours truly (DJ Lady Spindrift) will keep the dance floor alive with your favorite Top 40, Hip Hop, House, RnB, Reggae/Dancehall, Latin music.
It is $7 at the door and for all you young ones, this is one event you don’t want to miss.
